  • Energy Fuels Resources: Public Notice, Renewal of 11e.(2) Byproduct Radioactive Material License (RML UT1900479) and the Groundwater Quality Discharge Permit (Permit UGW370004) for the White Mesa Uranium Mill site near Blanding, San Juan County, Utah.
  • Proposed Rule Changes for Public Review and Comment
    The Waste Management and Radiation Control Board approved proceeding with formal rulemaking with proposed changes to the hazardous waste, solid waste, and used oil rules to incorporate EPA’s hazardous waste generator improvements rule, as promulgated in the Federal Register on November 28, 2016 (81 FR 85732) as well as to make selected corrections and clarifications. Also included in this rulemaking is a proposed change to the used oil rules (R315-15-13) that will allow transit systems that generate used oil to transport their own used oil, under a permit-by-rule status, to a permitted used oil recycler in an equally protective and safe manner.

    The public comment period begins June 1 and will conclude on July 3, 2017. Comments may be submitted via email to or by standard mail addressed to the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control, P.O. Box 144880, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84114-4880. Official publication of the proposed rule changes can be found in the June 1, 2017 issue ( Vol. 2017, No. 11) of the Utah State Bulletin and is available on June 1.   • Hazardous Secondary Materials Recycling/Reclamation Summary
    (5/17/16)—On April 15, 2016, the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control adopted the EPA’s January 2015 Definition of Solid Waste Rule. The EPA has provided requirements for notification, defining legitimate recycling, becoming a verified recycler, obtaining a variance request, and recycler/reclamation facility requirements. To apply to become a verified recycler or Intermediate Facility submit an application form Verified Recycler/Intermediate Facility. For Generators of Hazardous Secondary Materials, please submit an updated EPA Form 8700-12 with Addendum 1 (pages 53-58).
  • Hazardous Waste Rules Formatting Update
    (5/17/16)—On April 15, 2016, the Hazardous Waste Rules were reformatted similar to the EPA formatting. DAS R315.
