Hazardous chemicals are defined by the federal OSHA Hazard Communication Standard; 29 CFR 1910.1200. EPCRA regulations define two categories of chemicals, each with a threshold for reporting: Hazardous Chemicals (OSHA)—10,000 pounds; and, Extremely Hazardous Chemicals (EHS; listed under 40 CFR part 355)—500 pounds or Threshold Planning Quantity (TPQ).
