Recreational water quality monitoring has ended for the season on November 4, 2022

We will resume monitoring for harmful algal blooms and waterborne pathogens in summer 2023. HABs may be present in Utah water bodies year-round. If you are recreating, avoid areas of scum, know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom, and learn how to protect yourself and your family, including dogs.

OK, but be careful: Samples collected the past two weeks have been below Utah Department of Health recreational thresholds – that’s good news! Davis County Health Department has removed the Warning Advisory from Adams Reservoir.

Low levels of harmful algae may still be present. Know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom and avoid areas of algae scum when recreating.

GOOD NEWS: E. coli counts were measured below Utah Department of Health recreational thresholds. Sampling did not indicate the presence of illness-causing waterborne pathogens.

BE CAREFUL: Samples collected at Adams Reservoir on 9/22 did not indicate harmful algae or toxins. Samples will be collected again next week to confirm the HAB event is over. Watch here for updates.

Under a Warning Advisory:

BE CAREFUL: Samples collected at Adams Reservoir on 8/31 showed high levels of toxin-producing algae. Toxins may be present in the water. Check back for updates.

Monitoring for harmful algal blooms on August 4, 2022

GOOD NEWS: The samples collected did not indicate the presence of harmful algae. The Health Watch has been removed from this water body.

As always, know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom and avoid areas of algal scum when recreating.

BE CAREFUL: The Davis County Health Department monitoring team saw visible signs of a harmful algal bloom. There could be algae in the water producing dangerous toxins. We collected samples and the results are pending. Check back for updates.
