Monitoring for harmful algal blooms on November 8, 2022
Recreation water quality monitoring has ended for the season. Southwest Utah Health Department has removed the Warning Advisory.
As of last observation on 11/2, there was no longer visual evidence of a HAB at Baker Reservoir. Know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom and recreate safely.
Monitoring will resume in summer 2023.

Under a Warning Advisory:
- Do not swim or water ski
- Avoid areas of algae when boating
- Clean fish well and discard guts
- Keep animals away
- Don’t drink the water
- Learn what this means for visiting safely
BE CAREFUL: Observation at Baker Reservoir on September 9 showed the continued presence of dense algal material. Reservoir water may contain dangerous toxins.

BE CAREFUL: Sampling at Baker Reservoir on 7/11 detected high concentrations of toxin-producing algae (~2 million cells/mL). Reservoir water may contain dangerous toxins. Additional samples were collected and results will be posted here.

BE CAREFUL: A harmful algal bloom has been observed at Baker Reservoir. Dangerous toxins may be present in the reservoir and Santa Clara River near the dam outflow. Samples were collected and results will be posted here.
