Monitoring for harmful algal blooms on November 2, 2022
Recreation water quality monitoring has ended for the season. Wasatch County Health Department has removed the Warning Advisory.
As of last sampling on 10/27 a HAB was still present at Deer Creek Reservoir. Know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom and recreate safely.
Monitoring will resume in summer 2023.

Wasatch County Health Department has issued a Warning Advisory for the Rainbow Bay and Island Park areas of Deer Creek Reservoir.
Under a Warning Advisory:
- Do not swim or water ski
- Avoid areas of algae when boating
- Clean fish well and discard guts
- Keep animals away
- Don’t drink the water
- Learn what this means for visiting safely
BE CAREFUL: Harmful algae was observed and low levels of toxins were present in samples collected on 10/13.

However, some toxin-producing algae species were present near Island Park Marina, Rainbow Bay, and Deer Creek State Park. GOOD NEWS: E. coli counts were measured below Utah Department of Health recreational thresholds. Sampling did not indicate the presence of illness-causing waterborne pathogens.

GOOD NEWS: E. coli counts were measured below Utah Department of Health recreational thresholds. Sampling did not indicate the presence of illness-causing waterborne pathogens.
