Update October 12, 2021 (Update)

The Warning Advisory for Whitney Reservoir remains in place.

Toxigenic cyanobacteria cell density results for samples taken from the reservoir on 10/5/2021 were delivered on 10/12/2021. They show cell counts at 134,571,812 cells/mL. Cell densities are above the UDWQ/UDOH recommended Warning Advisory threshold of 100,000 cells/mL.

Update August 19, 2021

A Warning Advisory has been placed on Whitney Reservoir by the Summit County Health Department.

Toxigenic cyanobacteria cell density results for samples taken from the reservoir on 8/17/2021 were delivered on 8/18/2021. They show cell counts at 404,951 cells/mL. Cell densities are above the UDWQ/UDOH recommended Warning Advisory threshold of 100,000 cells/mL.

Update August 18, 2021

A Health Watch has been placed on Whitney Reservoir by the Summit County Health Department.

Note: This is not a formal advisory level but rather an indication that a bloom may exist or become more severe based on available information from Utah DWQ and Utah Department of Health.

On Aug 17, 2021 staff from Summit County Health Department visited Whitney Reservoir and observed a dense harmful algal bloom. Samples were collected and results are pending.
