Monitoring for harmful algal blooms on November 9, 2022
Recreation water quality monitoring has ended for the season. Weber-Morgan Health Department has removed the Warning Advisory.
As of last sampling on 10/11 a HAB was still present at East Canyon Reservoir. Know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom and recreate safely.
Monitoring will resume in summer 2023.

WARNING ADVISORY
Weber-Morgan County Health Department has issued a Warning Advisory for East Canyon Reservoir.
Under a Warning Advisory:
- Do not swim or water ski
- Avoid areas of algae when boating
- Clean fish well and discard guts
- Keep animals away
- Don’t drink the water
- Learn what this means for visiting safely
BE CAREFUL: High levels of harmful algae were observed on 10/11 near the State Park Dock and Taylor Hollow. Toxins may be present in the water.

GOOD NEWS: Due to changing reservoir levels, the area of concern for waterborne pathogens near Big Rock Campground is no longer present. Weber-Morgan Health Department is removing the waterborne pathogen advisory and will resume routine monitoring at East Canyon Reservoir.

BE CAREFUL: Our monitoring team saw visible signs of a harmful algal bloom. There could be algae in the water producing dangerous toxins. We collected samples and the results are pending. Check back for updates. In the meantime, we recommend:
- Do not swim or water ski in areas of algae
- Avoid areas of algae when boating
- Clean fish well and discard guts
- Keep animals away
- Don’t drink the water
- Know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom
