Recreational water quality monitoring has ended for the season on November 4, 2022

We will resume monitoring for harmful algal blooms and waterborne pathogens in summer 2023. HABs may be present in Utah water bodies year-round. If you are recreating, avoid areas of scum, know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom, and learn how to protect yourself and your family, including dogs.

GOOD NEWS: E. coli counts were measured below Utah Department of Health recreational thresholds. Sampling did not indicate the presence of illness-causing waterborne pathogens.

Monitoring for harmful algal blooms on September 22, 2022

OK, but be careful: Samples collected were all below Utah Department of Health recreational thresholds – that’s a good thing! However, some toxin-producing algae species were present. Know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom and avoid areas of algae scum when recreating.

BE CAREFUL: The Davis County Health Department monitoring team saw visible signs of a harmful algal bloom. There could be algae in the water producing dangerous toxins. We collected samples and the results are pending. Check back here for updates.
