Update October 25, 2021 (HABs)

The DWQ HABs monitoring team visited Hyrum Reservoir on October 25th. Harmful algal blooms were not observed at the State Park Swim Beach or Day Use area. Cyanotoxin and cell density samples were not collected. DWQ will return monthly for routine monitoring.


Update September 28, 2021 (Waterborne Pathogens)

On September 22nd, the Utah Water Watch visited Hyrum Reservoir. Samples from the day use area contained E. coli levels of 193.5 MPN/100 mL which is below the UDWQ/UDOH recommended Warning Advisory threshold of 235 MPN. Routine sampling will continue monthly.


Update September 3, 2021 (Waterborne Pathogens)

The Warning Advisory for Waterborne Pathogens at Hyrum Reservoir has been lifted by the Bear River Health Department.

On August 31st, the DWQ monitoring team visited Hyrum Reservoir. Samples from the day use area contained E. coli levels of 123.6 MPN/100 mL which is below the UDWQ/UDOH recommended Warning Advisory threshold of 235 MPN.


Update August 31, 2021

The Bear River Health Department has issued a Warning Advisory for Waterborne Pathogens at Hyrum Reservoir.

On August 26, 2021, follow-up samples from the day use area contained E. coli levels of 613.1 MPN, which is above the UDWQ/UDOH recommended Warning Advisory threshold of 235 MPN.

Update August 13, 2021 (Waterborne Pathogens)

On August 11th, the Utah Water Watch visited Hyrum Reservoir. Samples from the day use area contained E. coli levels of 387.3 MPN/100 mL which is above the UDWQ/UDOH recommended Warning Advisory threshold of 235 MPN. The reservoir will be re-sampled as soon as possible.


Update August 5, 2021 (HABs)

The DWQ HABs monitoring team visited Hyrum Reservoir on August 4th. Harmful algal blooms were not observed at all observed sites. Cyanotoxin and cell density samples were not collected. DWQ will return monthly for routine monitoring.


Update July 21, 2021 (Waterborne Pathogens)

On July 19th, the Utah Water Watch visited Hyrum Reservoir. Samples from the northeast beach area did not contain E. coli above recreational thresholds. Routine sampling will continue monthly.


Update July 7, 2021 (HABs)

The DWQ HABs monitoring team visited Hyrum Reservoir on July 6th. Harmful algal blooms were not observed at the State Park Swim Beach or Day Use area. Cyanotoxin and cell density samples were not collected. DWQ will return monthly for routine monitoring.


Update July 2, 2021 (Waterborne Pathogens)

On June 30th, the Utah Water Watch visited Hyrum Reservoir. Samples from the day use area and swim beach did not contain E. coli above recreational thresholds. Routine sampling will continue monthly.


Update June 4, 2021

On June 2nd, the DWQ HABs monitoring team visited Hyrum Reservoir. The monitoring team did not observe a harmful algal bloom. Cyanotoxin and cell density samples were not collected. As UDWQ and UDOH continue to visit and monitor waterbodies, updates will be posted.
