Recreational water quality monitoring has ended for the season on November 4, 2022
We will resume monitoring for harmful algal blooms and waterborne pathogens in summer 2023. HABs may be present in Utah water bodies year-round. If you are recreating, avoid areas of scum, know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom, and learn how to protect yourself and your family, including dogs.

OK, but be careful: Samples collected the past two weeks do not indicate the presence of a harmful algal bloom. Low numbers of harmful algae species were present so make sure to know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom and avoid areas of algae scum when recreating.

WARNING ADVISORY
Wasatch County Health Department has issued a Warning Advisory for the Rock Cliff area of Jordanelle Reservoir.
Under a Warning Advisory:
- Do not swim or water ski
- Avoid areas of algae when boating
- Clean fish well and discard guts
- Keep animals away
- Don’t drink the water
- Learn what this means for visiting safely
BE CAREFUL: High levels of harmful algae were found in samples collected on 9/15. Toxins may be present in the water.

HEALTH WATCH
A Health Watch is in effect for the Hailstone Beach area. Preliminary testing indicated elevated E. coli and an increased likelihood of waterborne pathogens. Additional samples will be collected today and the State Park can be contacted for results over the weekend.
In the meantime, we recommend recreators in the Hailstone Beach area:
- Do not swim
- Do not get water in your mouth
- Wash hands with soap and water after touching water
- Learn more about waterborne pathogens
