Recreation water quality monitoring has ended for the season. The Health Watch has been removed for Matt Warner Reservoir.

A Health Watch is in effect for Matt Warner Reservoir.
BE CAREFUL: Sampling at Matt Warner Reservoir on 7/21 showed the presence of toxin-producing algae. Harmful toxins may be present in the water.
- Do not swim or water ski
- Avoid areas of algae when boating
- Clean fish well and discard guts
- Keep animals away
- Don’t drink the water

HEALTH WATCH
A Health Watch is in effect for Matt Warner Reservoir.
BE CAREFUL: Buoy data from Matt Warner Reservoir shows increasing pH, a sign of a developing algal bloom. It is possible that toxin-producing algae is present and toxins may be in the water. DWQ or other partners will sample as soon as possible. In the meantime, we recommend:
- Do not swim or water ski
- Avoid areas of algae when boating
- Clean fish well and discard guts
- Keep animals away
- Don’t drink the water
- Know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom
Monitoring for harmful algal blooms on July 8, 2022
UPDATE: Results from samples collected on 7/5 have been received. Samples confirm the presence of toxin-producing algae, but in low concentrations. Samples detected only trace amounts of toxins. Based on these results, the Health Watch has been removed from Matt Warner Reservoir. Still avoid swimming in areas with visible algae and know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom.
