Recreational water quality monitoring has ended for the season. Southeast Utah Health Department has removed the Warning Advisory at Scofield Reservoir.

- Avoid areas of algae when boating
- Clean fish well and discard guts
- Keep animals away
- Don’t drink the water
- Learn what this means for visiting safely
BE CAREFUL: Monitoring at Scofield Reservoir on 10/19 indicated high concentrations of harmful algae throughout the water body. Toxins may be in the water. Additional sampling updates will not be available until monitoring resumes in summer 2023.

UPDATE: Ongoing monitoring will occur at Scofield Reservoir throughout the 2022 recreation season. An update will be posted here when the Warning Advisory is no longer in effect. Until then, be careful as toxin-producing algae and toxins may be in the water.

UPDATE: Sampling on 7/5 detected a very high concentration of toxin-producing algae on Scofield Reservoir. Harmful algae may be present at locations across the reservoir.

BE CAREFUL: Sampling at Scofield State Park on 6/29 detected high concentrations of toxin-producing algae (5.5 million cells/mL). HABs were also observed at the DNR anglers’ access point on the west side of the reservoir. Additional samples were collected and results will be posted here.

A Health Watch is in effect for Scofield Reservoir
BE CAREFUL: Our monitoring team saw visible signs of a harmful algal bloom. There could be algae in the water producing dangerous toxins. We collected samples and results are pending. Check back for updates. In the meantime, we recommend:

- Avoid areas of algae when boating
- Clean fish well and discard guts
- Keep animals away
- Don’t drink the water
- Know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom
Sites HABs observed: Mountain View boat launch, DNR anglers’ access point
The Division of Water Quality and the Utah Department of Health will monitor this site for waterborne pathogens and harmful algal blooms this summer, beginning in June 2022. We will share updates here.
