Monitoring for harmful algal blooms on November 2, 2022
Recreation water quality monitoring has ended for the season.
As of last sampling on 10/26 a HAB was present in localized areas at Strawberry Reservoir. Know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom and recreate safely.
Monitoring will resume in summer 2023.

OK, but be careful: Samples collected were below Utah Department of Health recreational thresholds – that’s good news! However, low levels of harmful algae were observed near Renegade Point and Strawberry Marina. Know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom and avoid areas of algae scum when recreating.

GOOD NEWS: E. coli counts were measured below Utah Department of Health recreational thresholds. Sampling did not indicate the presence of illness-causing waterborne pathogens.

OK, but be careful: Samples collected were all below Utah Department of Health recreational thresholds – that’s a good thing! However, moderate numbers of harmful algae were present near Renegade Point and could be present in other parts of the reservoir. Make sure you know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom and avoid areas of algae scum when recreating.
