This informational call with the Steering Committee and Science Panel will discuss proposed changes to the Science Panel Operating Principles document to further clarify management of conflicts of interest.

  • Review and discuss the revised Science Panel (SP) tasks (and other modifications to the SP Operating Principles) and approve modifications;
  • Review and discuss modifications to the draft SP Charge with the goal of finalizing to initiate efforts to implement;
  • Review and approve modifications to the Steering Committee (SC) Operating Principles;
  • Share and discuss efforts underway to initiate the ULWQS public engagement strategy;
  • Discuss schedule moving forward (and share updates on other activities coming out of early August SP deliberations and joint SC/SP meeting); and introduce the issue of Request For Information (RFI) for Lake/Marina Treatment for Harmful Algal Blooms and determine next steps.

January 23, 2018 - Utah Lake Steering Committee Meeting #2

The Utah Lake Steering Committee met on January 23, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Central Utah Water Conservancy District Don A. Christiansen Regional Water Treatment Plant (1120 East Cascade Drive, Orem, UT 84057). The meeting objectives were to continue discussion of the goals of the effort from the January 4th, 2018 meeting and to set the framework for standing up the Science Panel.

January 4, 2018 - Utah Lake Steering Committee Meeting #1

The Division of Water Quality (DWQ) hosted the Utah Lake Water Quality Study Steering Committee kickoff meeting on January 4, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Central Utah Water Conservancy District’s office (355 W University Pkwy, Orem). The primary objectives of the kickoff meeting were to provide an opportunity for the Steering Committee members to introduce themselves, discuss goals of the study and establish short- and mid-term duties of the committee. June 22, 2017 - Water Quality Study Update

In November 2016 the Utah Division of Water Quality, Utah Lake Commission, and a group of engaged stakeholder initiated an effort to revise the existing stakeholder plan to develop a formal process for enhancing relationships, establishing goals and objectives for the project, implementing a scientifically defensible research plan, and recommending policy decisions. The product of this effort is a framework that establishes a 16-member Steering Committee representing the diverse stakeholder interests and an independent Science Panel responsible for developing scientifically defensible water quality goals for the lake.

Additionally, DWQ received numerous comments from the Utah Lake Stakeholder group while developing the Stakeholder Process document. See the comments and associated responses (404 KB) for more information.

On June 22, 2017 the Utah Lake Commission Governing Board formally adopted a resolution endorsing the stakeholder process.
