Resource Conservation and Recovery Act

To protect public health and the environment from hazardous waste contamination, the State of Utah together with the United States Environmental Protection Agency implement the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). This program helps to protect communities and promotes resource conservation through safe management and cleanup of solid and hazardous waste, and encouragement of source reduction and beneficial use.

Medical x-rays account for the majority of the average citizen’s exposure to man made radiation. Our goal with inspections is to prevent or minimize exposures that have no benefit, and assist in radiation protection to the citizens of Utah.
