- Only one application per household.
- You must apply and be approved to participate (see application steps below). Purchases made prior to approval are not eligible.

How it works
Step 1: Submit a quick eligibility application
Fill out a quick 15-minute eligibility application to ensure you qualify for the program. We’ll let you know if you are approved.
We need to know:
- Your contact information (name, email, phone number)
- Your current home address (with documentation uploaded)
- If you are recycling old gas-powered equipment (optional)
We have to approve your application before you can proceed to the next steps.
Step 2: After approval, recycle your old gas-powered equipment (if not recycling, proceed to step 3)
2.1 Bring your old gas-powered equipment to one of the eligible recycling centers near you
- You can recycle gas-powered leaf blowers, string trimmers, edgers, hedgers, and chainsaws. Gas-powered lawnmowers are not eligible.
- Empty the oil and gas before you go (dispose of it at a Used Oil Collection Center)
- Follow the special check-in instructions for the facility you choose
2.2 Take a picture of your gas-powered equipment at the facility
- Snap a picture of your equipment at the facility BEFORE you scrap. The facility will direct you to where this photo should be taken.
- Save the photo–you’ll need to submit it to us later!
2.3 Get your Certificate of Recycling
- Ask a staff member at the recycling facility for a blank Certificate of Recycling.
- Fill out the form with your equipment information.
- A staff member will review the form and provide an official stamp of approval.
- DO NOT LOSE THE COMPLETED CERTIFICATE. You must keep the completed form (digital or physical copy) as it is required documentation for reimbursement.
2.4 Upload photo and certificate
Submit both the photos of your old equipment and the completed Certificate of Recycling to DAQ.
Step 3: After approval, purchase new electric equipment
3.1 Go to a physical store
- Go to a physical store near you to purchase new eligible electric equipment.
- No online-only or secondhand retailers.
3.2 Purchase eligible equipment
You must purchase hand-held electric equipment, including:
- string trimmers
- leaf blowers
- chainsaws
- edgers
- hedgers
- Batteries, accessories, and chargers (only allowed in addition to any of the above)
No lawnmowers.
3.3 Keep your receipt
- Keep your itemized receipt from the store—you will need it for reimbursement!
- NOTE: ALL REBATE PURCHASES ARE FINAL.
Step 4: Upload the required documents to start the reimbursement process
After you have purchased the new electric equipment (and recycled the old gas-powered equipment, if applicable), submit your reimbursement form along with all required documentation.
You will need to upload:
- Application ID from original submission confirmation email
- Recycling documentation (if you chose to recycle old equipment):
- Copy of completed Certificate of Recycling (see an example certificate)
- Photo of the recycled equipment at the recycling facility
- Purchase receipt:
- Copy of a valid itemized receipt with the store name, date, equipment description, and price (see an example receipt)
- New equipment serial number
We will start reviewing submitted documents within 90 days.
Step 5: Reimbursement issued
Once we review and approve your reimbursement submission, we’ll issue a check by mail to the address you provided.
Reimbursement checks are issued 90 days after you upload your documentation.
