Department of Environmental Quality
CertLink: Utah’s Water and Wastewater Operator Certification System
CertLink is the Utah Department of Environmental Quality’s (DEQ) online system for operator certification. It brings together certifications that were previously managed separately by the Division of Drinking Water (distribution and treatment operators, cross connection program administrators, and backflow assembly testers) and the Division of Water Quality (wastewater operator, onsite or wastewater maintenance specialist) into one secure, easy‑to‑use place.
Whether you treat municipal drinking water, manage wastewater systems, or test backflow assemblies, CertLink brings your credentials and career progression into one seamless, easy-to-use digital hub.
What you can do in CertLink
- Register for certification exams and manage your applications.
- Apply for, view, and renew certifications.
- Track Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and see your renewal progress.
- Verify certificates and look up service providers.
- Make online payments for exams, renewals, and certificate issuance in one streamlined process.
- Assign operators to facilities and designate Direct Responsible Charge (DRC) operators.
