The following Equipment Evaluation Guidelines are provided in PDF format.

Nationwide Evaluation of X-ray Trends

In 1973 the Nationwide Evaluation of X-ray Trends (NEXT) program was established to estimate the radiation exposure from specific diagnostic x-ray procedures. NEXT is an annual survey program conducted cooperatively between the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the various state and local governments through a coordinating agency known as the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors.

The NEXT program uses standard phantoms, relevant film processing information, along with technique data (screens, films, grids, etc.) in order for medical facilities to evaluate patient exposure so they may identify and correct potential exposure problems. Information on the NEXT Mammography, NEXT Dental is available for review.

If you have additional questions regarding X-rays, please contact DWMRC at (801) 536-0200.
