Vehicles

  • On-Highway, Class 5-8 Diesel Vehicles, Engine Model Years 2009 and Older
  • School, Shuttle, and Transit Buses
  • Medium-Heavy-Duty or Heavy-Heavy-Duty Diesel Trucks

Criteria for vehicle replacement

Vehicles must:

  • be within engine model years 2009 and older.
  • operate a minimum of 50% in the following counties: Box Elder, Cache, Davis, Duchesne, Salt Lake, Tooele, Uintah, Utah, and Weber
  • be fully operational and have a minimum of three years remaining in its useful life
  • travel a minimum of 7,000 miles annually (for the two years prior to upgrade)
  • be currently owned and operated by the participating fleet owner for two years prior to the upgrade
  • be permanently disabled within 90 days of placing the new vehicle into service
  • be replaced with vehicles/equipment that are within the same vehicle class or equipment horsepower and operate in the same function and areas as the vehicle being replaced

Equipment

  • Nonroad Diesel Equipment
  • <50 – 751+ horsepower Nonroad Engines or Equipment, engine model years 1986+ -used in:
    • Construction;
    • Handling of Cargo (including at a port or airport);
    • Agriculture;
    • Mining; or
    • Energy Production (including stationary generators and pumps).

Criteria for equipment replacement

Equipment must:

  • be 51 horsepower or higher and engine model year 2006 or newer or 51-300 horsepower and engine model year 1996 or newer, or 301 horsepower or higher and engine model year 1986 and newer
  • Tier 0-Tier 3 and replaced with Tier 4
  • operate a minimum of 50% in the following counties: Box Elder, Cache, Davis, Duchesne, Salt Lake, Tooele, Uintah, Utah, and Weber
  • be fully operational and have a minimum of three years remaining in its useful life
  • operate a minimum of 500 hours annually (250 hours for agriculture equipment)
  • be permanently disabled within 90 days of placing the new vehicle into service
  • be replaced with equipment that is the same horsepower and operates in the same function and areas as the equipment being replaced
