Recreational monitoring has ended for the season. Monitoring will resume in summer 2024. Waterborne pathogens may still arise at this waterbody. Know what to look for and check before recreating.
October 23, 2023: Harmful algal bloom (HAB) monitoring update
GOOD NEWS: A harmful algal bloom has not been present during the past two monitoring visits. The advisory has been removed for Lost Creek Reservoir. As always, know how to spot a harmful algal bloom, and use care when recreating.
October 4, 2023: Harmful algal bloom (HAB) monitoring update
BE CAREFUL: Harmful algae is present at Lost Creek Reservoir, but in lower levels than last sampling. Algae in the water may be producing dangerous toxins that can make humans and animals sick. Check this page again for future sampling updates.
Weber-Morgan Health Department has issued a WARNING ADVISORY.
If you visit Lost Creek:
- Do not swim or water ski
- Avoid areas of algae when boating
- Clean fish well and discard guts
- Keep animals away
- Don’t drink the water
- Know how to recognize a harmful algal bloom

OK, but be careful: Areas of harmful algae have been observed at locations around Lost Creek Reservoir. A harmful algal bloom may rapidly develop which could be harmful to humans and animals. Know how to spot a harmful algal bloom and avoid recreating in areas of visible algae.

Site visited: Spillway southwest shore, State Park boat ramp, Dam Crossing southeast shore
June 12, 2023: Waterborne pathogen (E. coli) monitoring update
GOOD NEWS: E. coli counts were measured below Utah Department of Health recreational thresholds. Sampling suggests that the water is safe from harmful bacteria and viruses.
GOOD NEWS:Our monitoring team did not see any visible signs of a harmful algal bloom. Learn more about harmful algal blooms.
