Recreational monitoring has ended for the season. Monitoring will resume in summer 2024. Harmful algal blooms may still arise at this waterbody. Know what to look for and check before recreating.

GOOD NEWS: A harmful algal bloom has not been present during the past two monitoring visits. The advisory has been removed for Pineview Reservoir. As always, know how to spot a harmful algal bloom, and use care when recreating.

BE CAREFUL: Harmful algae is present in areas around Pineview Reservoir, but at lower levels than last week. Algae in the water may be producing dangerous toxins that can make humans and animals sick. Monitoring will continue next week.
Weber-Morgan Health Department has issued a WARNING ADVISORY.
If you visit Pineview:
- Do not swim or water ski
- Avoid areas of algae when boating
- Clean fish well and discard guts
- Keep animals away
- Don’t drink the water

OK, but be careful: Small areas of harmful algae have been observed at locations around Pineview Reservoir. A bigger bloom may rapidly develop which could be harmful to humans and animals. Know how to spot a harmful algal bloom and avoid recreating in areas of visible algae.
August 30, 2023: Waterborne pathogen (E. coli) monitoring update
GOOD NEWS: E. coli counts were measured below Utah Department of Health recreational thresholds. Sampling suggests that the water is safe from harmful bacteria and viruses.
