BE CAREFUL: A harmful algal bloom is present at Utah Lake. Algae in the water may be producing dangerous toxins that can make humans and animals sick.

July 28, 2025: Harmful algal bloom (HAB) monitoring update

BE CAREFUL: Our monitoring team saw visible signs of a harmful algal bloom lake-wide at Utah Lake. There could be algae in the water producing dangerous toxins. We collected samples and results are pending. Check back here for updates.

Provo Bay, Lincoln Marina and beach, Sandy Beach, American Fork Marina, Open Water on East Side of Lake:

July 23, 2025: Harmful algal bloom (HAB) monitoring update

BE CAREFUL: A harmful algal bloom is present in the south end of the lake, American Fork Marina, and open water along the east side of the lake. Algae in the water is producing dangerous toxins that can make humans and animals sick.

May 21, 2025: Waterborne pathogen (E. coli) and HAB monitoring update

GOOD NEWS: E. coli counts were measured below recreational thresholds and our monitoring team did not see any visible signs of a harmful algal bloom.

Sites sampled: Lincoln Marina (beach), Lincoln beach N of Lincoln Marina, S of Lincoln Marina, shore NE of Spanish Fork River Outlet, Utah Lake State Park Marina W, Lindon Marina Beach NE of launch ramps, American Fork Beach, Saratoga Springs Marina boat ramp, and Saratoga Springs Marina Picnic Area
