  • Avoid areas of algae when boating
  • Keep animals away
  • Do not drink the water
  • Clean fish well and discard guts

September 6, 2024: Harmful algal bloom (HAB) monitoring update

BE CAREFUL: A harmful algal bloom is present in areas of Echo Reservoir. Algae in the water may be producing dangerous toxins that can make humans and animals sick. 

Summit County Health Department has issued a WARNING ADVISORY.

August 14, 2024: Waterborne pathogen (E. coli) & HAB monitoring update

GOOD NEWS: E. coli counts were measured below Utah Department of Health recreational thresholds. Sampling suggests that the water is safe from harmful bacteria and viruses. No signs of harmful algae were observed.

Sites sampled: Echo Resort boat launch, Echo Reservoir W of 590 N. Main St, W of 1500 N. Echo Dam Rd. residence.  


July 15, 2024: Harmful algal bloom (HAB) monitoring update

GOOD NEWS: Our monitoring team did not see any visible signs of a harmful algal bloom. Learn more about harmful algal blooms.
