BE CAREFUL: Our monitoring team saw visible signs of a harmful algal bloom at Otter Creek Reservoir. There could be algae in the water producing dangerous toxins. We collected samples and results are pending. Check back here for updates.
In the meantime we recommend:

- Avoid areas of algae when boating
- Clean fish well and discard guts
- Keep animals away
- Don’t drink the water

June 25, 2024: Waterborne pathogen (E. coli) monitoring update
GOOD NEWS: E. coli counts were measured below Utah Department of Health recreational thresholds. Sampling suggests that the water is safe from harmful bacteria and viruses.

June 12, 2024: Harmful algal bloom (HAB) monitoring update
OK, but be careful: Our monitoring team observed low levels of harmful algae at locations around Otter Creek Reservoir. Know what to look out for and avoid visible algae when recreating.
Site visited: State Park beach access, Tamarisk Point Campground, near Senior Citizen point
May 21, 2024: Waterborne pathogen (E. coli) monitoring update
GOOD NEWS: E. coli counts were measured below Utah Department of Health recreational thresholds. Sampling suggests that the water is safe from harmful bacteria and viruses.
Site sampled: Otter Creek beach access
