October 31, 2023: Harmful algal bloom (HAB) monitoring update

Recreational monitoring has ended for the season. Monitoring will resume in summer 2024. A harmful algal bloom may still be present at this waterbody. Know what to look for and check before recreating.


September 27, 2023: Harmful algal bloom (HAB) monitoring update

BE CAREFUL: A harmful algal bloom is present at Steinaker Reservoir. Algae in the water may be producing dangerous toxins that can make humans and animals sick. 

TriCounty Health Department has issued a WARNING ADVISORY.

September 18, 2023: Harmful algal bloom (HAB) monitoring update

BE CAREFUL: No harmful algae was observed during sampling this week. One more set of samples will be collected next week to confirm the harmful algal bloom has dissipated. Check back here for updates! In the meantime, stay alert while recreating.
