October 31, 2023: Harmful algal bloom (HAB) monitoring update
Recreational monitoring has ended for the season. Monitoring will resume in summer 2024. A harmful algal bloom may still arise at this waterbody. Know what to look for and check before recreating.
April 18, 2023: Harmful algae monitoring update
GOOD NEWS: Sample analysis indicates that no harmful algal bloom is present. No Health Watch or Advisory is in effect.
April 17, 2023: Harmful algae monitoring update
BE CAREFUL: Possible toxic algae was observed at Decker Lake by a visitor on April 16 and by our monitoring team on April 17. The algae was observed in green and brown clumps floating on the water and near the shore. Samples were collected and results will be shared here as soon as available.
In the meantime, we recommend:
- Do not swim or wade in areas of algae
- Avoid areas of algae when boating
- Clean fish well and discard guts
- Keep animals away
- Don’t drink the water
- Know how to recognize the signs of a harmful algal bloom
