The Sandy Beach advisory remained in place until the end of the routine sampling season (May 1 – October 31) at which time the Utah County Health Department removed advisory signs. DWQ will continue to investigate sources of E. coli in the area throughout the winter.

E. coli concentrations remain above the water quality standard at Sandy Beach. The advisory remains in place.

Update: July 14, 2017
The Utah County Health Department posted signs on July 14, 2017 at Sandy Beach on Utah Lake due to elevated high levels of E. coli bacteria in water samples collected by DWQ on July 10th and July 13th.
Lindon Drain (Active Advisory)

The advisory remains in place at the Lindon Drain. DWQ will continue to monitor E. coli levels throughout the winter.
Update: August 28, 2017
An E. coli advisory was issued by Utah County Health Department for the Lindon Drain on August 28, 2017. DWQ identified the Lindon Drain, an inflow to Utah Lake near the Lindon Marina, as a source of high E. coli concentrations. Signs were posted at the site and will remain in place while investigations continue.

The advisory for the Lindon Marina was lifted at the end of the 2017 sampling season. Routine monitoring at the Lindon Marina will resume during the next sampling season (May 1 – October 31).

Utah DWQ continues to monitor E. coli at several beach areas on Utah Lake once per month. The E. coli related advisory remains in place at Lindon Marina.
Updates: October 14, 2016
Utah DWQ has been collecting data in and around the Lindon Marina since the initial closure in order to assess if E. coli levels warrant removal of the water quality advisory. While levels of E. coli appear to be diminishing, there are still high levels of E. coli identified in a tributary to the Lake that DWQ is currently investigating.
Updates: September 29, 2016
Samples collected from the Lindon Marina on September 23, 2016, by DWQ were not meeting E. coli water quality standards. UCHD has posted caution signs at Lindon Marina advising people not to swim or wade in the area or ingest the water. Health officials suggest that people wash their hands with clean water after handling fish or touching the lake.
